Currently attracting a minimum hourly rate range of $27.47 – 31.22 +

allowances and penalties

About the Role: The Hospitality Services Assistant will contribute to the delivery of effective cleaning

and hygiene services to delegated areas of the Hospital as well as prepare, assemble and deliver

patient meals.

OTHER INFORMATION:
  • This is an opportunity to join our friendly Hospitality team.
  • The role will involve both Housekeeping and Catering duties and work in a variety of areas
within the Hospital.

  • This role is fast paced and physical in nature and will require standing for long periods of time.
  • We are ideally looking for candidates that have previous experience in a
hospitality/housekeeping role.

  • Knowledge of current food hygiene principles, practices and legislation is desirable.
  • Candidates must be able to be flexible with work times and be able to work a variety of shifts
including; early, late, nights (including overnight), weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.

  • This position requires working early morning and late evening (shifts vary from 4.30am to
9.30pm). Candidates must be available for all shift types.

  • Previous experience in a Hospital, Aged Care facility, or hotel is highly desirable.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

4.1 Mission & Values 4.3.1 Promote the Mission, Values and Philosophy of Mercy Health and
Aged Care Central Queensland Limited.

4.3.2 Participate in Mercy Celebrations and Traditions.

4.3.3 Attend mandatory Mission Inservice.

4.3.4 Adhere to Pocketbook of Excellence and Integrity in the
Workplace Standards.

4.2 Catering Services 4.2.1 Regenerate and/or heat required food in accordance with food

safety principles, facility Policy and Procedure and manufacturer

guidelines

4.2.2 Ensure all food is stored in accordance with food safety guidelines

and facility policy and procedure.

4.2.3 Prepare and deliver food for functions when required.

4.0 Key Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities

4.2.4 Orientate employees to the food preparation areas and practices

of the food services as required.

4.2.5 Work on the tray assembly lines when required.

4.2.6 Prepare and clear function rooms as required.

4.2.7 Accept and respond to telephone requests for meals and

beverages to patient care areas as soon as possible

4.2.8 Ensure all equipment is utilised in accordance with manufacturer

requirements and faults are reported in a timely manner.

4.3 Housekeeping 4.3.1 Operate cleaning and other associated equipment and materials

Services in accordance with the manufacturer and/or supplier guidelines

4.3.2 Assist in ensuring that cleaning and other associated equipment is

functional at all times.

4.3.3 Clean permanent structures, fixtures, equipment and non-fixtures

as required in accordance with delegated directives of an

appropriate authority and facility policies and procedures.

4.3.4 Apply appropriate risk management principles and practices

when carrying out duties (e.g. placing of caution signs, removal of

electrical cords).

4.3.5 Removal of waste, linen and other matter from designated

cleaning areas as required.

4.4 Other Duties 4.4.1 Provide relief in other hospitality positions as directed by the

Hospitality Services Supervisor or other designated authority.

4.4.2 Participate in other meetings and forums as required.

4.4.3 Ensure attendance at and completion of Mandatory training.

4.4.4 Accept, adhere and promote Workplace Health & Safety

requirements, appropriate standards and risk management

guidelines to ensure health and safety obligations are met to

maintain a safe working environment.

4.4.5 Foster a cooperative work environment and maintain open

communication through effective interpersonal skills and

appropriate forums.

4.4.6 Participate in and recommend quality activities aiming to improve

work practices to exceed customer expectations.

4.4.7 Participate in in-service programs to assist in personal development

and satisfy the objectives of the organisation.

4.4.8 Accept and adhere to all policies and procedures of the Hospital

and organisation.

4.4.9 Undertake other duties as directed by the Hospitality Services

Supervisor or designated authority.

5.0 Qualifications and Experience:
Desired

5.1 Previous experience in a comparable position;

5.2 Knowledge of current food hygiene principles, practices and legislation;

5.3 Experience in a health care or hotel services environment; and

5.4 Certificate II in Health Support Services or equivalent thereof.
