Your organisation – Mackay Hospital and Health Service:

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has eight hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and two additional community health services that employ more than 3,300 staff. The Mackay district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to approximately 182,000 people in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

Your role:

  • The sole Occupational Therapist, at the Bowen Hospital, is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective provision of Occupational Therapy services, in line with contemporary standards and requirements, to all clients of the Bowen Hospital and provides outreach services to Collinsville Multi-Purpose Health Service.
  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team, with a primary health care focus, aim to improve or maintain clients independent functioning in all aspects of daily living.

Your team:

This role is based at the Bowen Hospital which is a 27-bed rural hospital 200kms north of Mackay. Bowen is a beautiful town built on the coast just north of the Whitsundays, the team at Bowen work together to provide a holistic service to our communities. Our Allied Health Team provides a weekly outreach service to the Collinsville Multi-Purpose Health Service, which is a 14-bed facility including 7 aged care beds. Collinsville is located 90kms west of Bowen
