About The Opportunity

An amazing permanent position for aData Operations Engineer (Azure)has risen within Bupa. This role will see you being a key contributor to the data operations function for Bupa’s Azure delivery and Microsoft based data solutions.

DataOps at Bupa is a collaborative effort where you will need to coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure that the data solutions are operational and secure, functional and easy to use, and are supporting the Data Strategy.

As a strong technologist, you will focus on the platforms, data pipelines, engineering and data science tooling, and have sound data management practices. As a DataOps professional you are invested in improving processes to ensure that Bupa’s data community have low friction and high value access to data.

You will work as part of the Data Office team who are the custodian of Bupa's enterprise data assets, supporting the business to embed a strong, unified data management platform and enabling the business to work strategically with data to maximise competitive performance. We are working with various teams and projects to build the future state of Bupa’s data platforms on Microsoft Azure services, and to mature and extend our Data Warehouse and Analytics systems on-premise on Oracle and Microsoft products.

You Will Have

• Experience in an operations role (in a data context)
• Experience supporting Hadoop (HDP, Cloudera) systems at scale
• Experience supporting EDW/DM solutions with a mix of technology (Microsoft, Oracle)
• Experience supporting Cloud deployments (Azure, AWS)
• Experience supporting Data Science teams and advanced analytics tools (SAS, R, Python)
• Experience with system monitoring, alerting, and reporting
• A thorough understanding of data frameworks, Big Data processing patterns, and data pipeline optimisation
• Strong DevOps skills (SCM, CI/CD, Automation)
• Strong Agile experience
• Huge bonus would be work experience with Azure and AWS architectures
  

The ideal candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset and foster the same culture within the team. You like to leverage of model pattern, pipelines and analytical solutions using Data Office guidelines and preferred solutions. You are hands on and develop test and operate solutions. Everything data is your passion and you keep yourself up-to-date with emerging technology and trends in data. You also bring experience supporting the data office in the development and implementation of data Strategy, Data Governance program, data Quality and Big Data platform approaches and frameworks.

A generative mindset will be required to be successful in this role.You come from a place of possibility, think on your feet and outside the square, and adapt well to change. You are comfortable with ambiguity and are able to push forward with unproven ideas. You are a positive and supportive individual with a flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to see the bigger picture.
