SVHM is one of Australia's leading Catholic not-for-profit healthcare providers.About the DepartmentSt Vincent's Correctional Health Service (SVCHS) at Port Phillip Prison (PPP) provides primary health, mental health and secondary medical health care to prisoners at Port Phillip Prison, Laverton. Port Phillip Prison is a maximum security male prison accommodating approximately 1107 inmates and is situated 20 km West of Melbourne. SVCHS works collaboratively with Forensic Mental Health Services (FMHS) who provides secondary outpatient and inpatient care for those prisoners with a mental illness.About the RoleYou will be responsible for providing high quality physiotherapy management within the Correctional Health Service (Port Phillip Prison) to patients admitted to the 40 bed sub-acute unit, St John’s. The service provides physiotherapy care for a diverse range of patients which may include: general medical management, chronic disease management, complex care needs and/or age – related health conditions. This role will have scope for physical rehabilitation with the focus on prevention of decline, management of physical impairments and maintaining independence. The service will also provide assessment of aged care needs and end of life/palliative care needs as required.Classifications for this position will range Physiotherapist Grade 3 VB7 - VC1 ($93,800 - $107,200 per annum).About youYou are a motivated, engaging, and compassionate person who is looking to make a difference in the lives of those who are vulnerable. You possess attributes including resilience, integrity and the ability to think on your feet.DutiesProvide appropriate evidenced based assessment, planning and treatment and clinical management for all patients referred for physiotherapy Promote the principles of evidence based practice in the management of patients treated by the physiotherapy teamCommunicate assessment and treatment outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via appropriate routes including documentationMentor and supervise staff as requiredQualifications, Skills and ExperienceMust have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist RegistrationExperience in the supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, students and support staffKnowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvementRelevant postgraduate qualifications would be highly regarded. A current driver’s license is an essential requirement for this position.
