Position/Duties:

  • Provide assessment and treatment to your clinic clients including regular routine, biomechanical, orthotics, nail surgery, podopaediatrics, wart treatments, diabetic foot checks and arthritic clients etc. Using the SOAP method; completing an examination, assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Provide visiting Podiatry Services to contracted outreach sites such as MDAS, MVAC, CHAC (Aboriginal Health) and Bupa Aged Care in addition to home visits to housebound clients and/or independent living patients as directed by the Practice Manager.
  • Liaise and participate with external service providers i.e. GP’s with patient case management programs such as Chronic Disease Management (formerly EPC’s). This includes maintaining appropriate documentation, writing letters, reports and following client records protocol.
  • Constantly review appropriateness of diagnosis and treatment plan for all clients.
  • Maintain satisfactory record keeping, report writing and other documentation as required.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and privacy principles from the federal Privacy Act 1988.
  • Maintain a good up-to-date working knowledge of podiatry services and resources relevant to the needs of clients.
  • Prescribe, dispense, review and modify (if required) Over The Counter (OTC) devices to match client requirements.
  • Cast, prescribe, dispense, review and modify (if required) biomechanical orthotic devices to match client requirements.
  • Recommend appropriate foot care items to clients such as emollient cream, foot files, dressings etc. to match client requirements
  • Educate clients as part of their treatment on their condition, treatment options and self-management options
  • Discuss costs and time commitment associated with various treatment methods at our clinic and other options to formulate a treatment plan - so clients are fully informed and happy with their treatment plan

Criteria:

* Possess a valid and current Degree or equivalent in Podiatry that qualifies you to legally practice as a Podiatrist in Australia and provide evidence of such to the Practice Manager
* Maintain registration with AHPRA and provide evidence of such to the Practice Manager
* Maintain regular continuing professional development sessions, seminars etc. both internal and external, to update, develop and maintain podiatric knowledge and skills in accordance with guidelines set by AHPRA (currently at least 20 hours per annum).
* Maintain current Working With Children’s Check (QLD), First Aid, Driver’s License, National Police Check and Provide evidence of such to the Practice Manager
* Attend and participate in team meetings, evaluations / reviews, training / education and appraisals
* Take part in mentoring and take advice from and Practice Manager
* Inform the Practice Manager of any complaints/concerns brought to you by any stakeholders including team members, contractors, clients, suppliers and outreach sites
* Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area at all times
* Communicate effectively
