Division Responsibilities
The Health Grants and Network Division (HGND) incorporates staff in all State and Territory
offices and in National Office and is responsible for local implementation of a range of
Australian Government health and aged care programs. HGND has a key role in delivering
programs and services, while managing relationships and partnerships with key internal and
external stakeholders. The Division contributes to policy and program development, review
and evaluation of health and aged care programs.
Branch Responsibilities
The State and Territory offices are responsible for local implementation of a range of
Australian Government health and aged care programs. Each State Office has a key role in
delivering programs and services, while managing relationships and partnerships with key
internal and external stakeholders.
Section Responsibilities
The Queensland Office of the HGND works collaboratively with the other state and territory
offices as well as policy, program, regulatory and corporate areas of the Department to
achieve the Government’s priorities. This recruitment activity will be used to fill vacancies in
the Aged Care section of the Queensland office.
The section works with approved providers and policy areas to ensure effective
management of aged care programs under the Aged Care Act 1997, including residential,
home and flexible care and the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) review program. It also
undertakes core activities of representation, stakeholder and community engagement,
emergency management and assistance in policy development, program design and
evaluation. The section also responds to COVID-19 outbreaks, working across jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and provide direction to a team that has multiple functions across a
range of program areas.
Build, foster and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
Represent the Department at various stakeholder engagement activities, including
with consumers, service providers, state governments and other Commonwealth
agencies.
Think strategically and display sound judgement in challenging environments to
negotiate and influence outcomes.
Support the Policy Program Divisions (PPDs) in meeting program and policy funding
outcomes.
Key Capabilities
Strong leadership with the ability to build capability and provide support to staff in
an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Strong management skills including the ability to organise work activities and
complete tasks within timeframes and set parameters.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of
stakeholders to achieve outcomes and to represent the department across a range
of different fora.
Well-developed analytical, planning and problem solving skills including the ability to
understand and apply legislation, identify risk and formulate strategies to resolve
complex issues.
Ability to work independently, within an environment of change.
