WA Country Health Service are calling registered practitioners with the ability to relocate to a rural location at short notice for periods up to 2-4 weeks, in the following disciplines;

  • District Medical Officers (procedural and non-procedural skills);
  • General Practitioners with Emergency Department experience or with procedural skills;
  • Consultant Anaesthetists,
  • Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and
  • Consultant Emergency Medicine Physicians.
WA Country Health Service (WACHS)

WACHS is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area.

The range of health services provided include acute inpatient and emergency care, population and public health, mental health, Aboriginal health, aged care and includes increasing number of services provided by telehealth video-conferencing.

The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Our core business is the provision of quality, accessible health services to country WA residents and visitors.

Successful Applicants
  • Successful applicants will be required to undertake the WACHS credentialing and scope of practice process.
  • Independent contractors will be offered a Medical Service Agreement and Salaried Medical Practitioners may apply from within WA Health under the temporary deployment process.
  • All successful applicants are subject to conditional approval from their employer to be released for Locum opportunities before applying.
  • Attractive remuneration is on offer, with travel and accommodation provided whilst on deployment.
