Salary: $124,618.08 - $126,934.81per annum

Position Summary

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Consultant with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to provide expert clinical advice and consultancy to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty. The Clinical Nurse Consultant is also expected to provide leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice and initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services.

The Clinical Emergency Response Systems (CERS) Clinical Nurse Consultant is the primary resource person for nursing, medical, allied health and telecommunications staff in all matters pertaining to the management of the day- to-day clinical and operational effectiveness of the CERS. The CERS operational and quality aspects are guided by the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards, Standard 8: Recognising and responding to Acute Deterioration and the New South Wales Clinical Excellence Commission’s ‘Between The Flags’ (BTF) Program. CERS related key performance indicators, along with other data collection and analysis, are reported to the SVHNS Standard 8 Committee and the NSW Ministry of Health (MOH). The CERS portfolio includes the management and coordination of the CERS program, ‘Sepsis Kills’ program and ‘REACH’ programs and other related projects or initiatives as required.

Selection Criteria
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Currently registered as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with at least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the speciality field and, in addition, who has approved post registration nursing qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney
  • Demonstrated high level leadership within the workplace and across external agencies, at a state, national or international level, and demonstrated ability to form productive high level working relationships through highly developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects relating to significant practice change for the organisation and ability to demonstrate significant contribution to clinical nursing education within the speciality
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, policy & procedure development, clinical audit and demonstrated experience in leading research initiatives
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in daily practice
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated high level computer literacy and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
