JOB DESCRIPTION

RESIDENTIAL YOUTH WORKER - CAIRNS

Based in Cairns, this position will see you supporting young people in care, who have been through trauma, helping them to develop positive routines and structures to enable them to live their life to the fullest, with your help, support, and care.

This position is primarily casual, however, there are permanent opportunities in the future, depending on the needs and wants of your schedule. 

Your new workplace is a community Not-For-Profit that is looking for a vibrant new member to join their Cairns team. They provide health and community services to thousands of people every day through its services in Health, Community Services, Aged Care, Disability, and Family Services.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

  • Be passionate about the lives of children and young people and influence outcomes
  • Undertake lead/key work responsibility for allocated children and young people 
  • Translate Care Plans and Case Plans into practice
  • Working closely with other team members in a 24-hour environment 
  • Focus daily on well-being, socialisation, positive relationships, building
    And maintaining connections to family and culture, education, and learning
  • You will be responsible for making a difference in these young people's lives and helping to set them up for a better future.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Youth Work or Bachelor in a related field
  • Ability to work with young people and other staff
  • Resilience to work in crisis situations and with challenging behaviours
  • Willingness to work in a team environment in which 24-hour support is given, and be willing to work sleepover shifts 
  • Current Driver's License
  • Current Blue Card & LCS2 clearance (or willing to complete) 
  • Hope & Healing Framework training (completed, or willing to complete)
