About Department
Berengarra, a new multi storey 90 bed state of the art residential aged care facility comprises 60 mainstream and 30 Aged Persons’ Mental Health (APMH) beds designed to deliver contemporary best practice person centred care. Berengarra compliments a suite of existing St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s residential facilities.
Berengarra is due to welcome the first residents in March, with a planned staggered opening throughout 2021 until the facility is at capacity.

About the Role
Working as part of the Central Kitchen team, you will assist the Cook in the preparation of food and beverage orders for our Aged Care residents. You will primarily be responding to requests from residents for short order meals and drinks, delivering meals to residents on different levels of the facility, as well as the overall maintenance of the kitchen and kitchen equipment, all whilst maintaining food safety standards and OH&S compliance. Part time positions available, minimum 14 hours per week.
Classification range for this position is HA1 - HA18 (between $23.70 - 24.49 per hour).
Duties
Ensure best practice is maintained and all duties related to the role are carried out in an expert manner
Preparation of short order food/beverages as required
Demonstrate compliance with task allocation and timelines (including receiving, sorting and distributing meals from the SVHM Production Kitchen), whilst complying to OH&S and Food Safety standards
Monitor waste management
Work area is kept clean as per Food Safety standards, kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards are adhered too, including thorough kitchen cleaning and sanitizing
Informing coordinators of required food stock levels
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Current Food Safety Certificate HLTFSE001
Food Handling & Hygiene Certificate
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen (preferably in a hospital/ aged care setting)
Demonstrated understanding of food safety standards and OH&S practices
