Developmental Educator

The Role:
Design and support implementation of NDIS and Aged Care Behaviour Support plans, in this full time role based from Mile End.

This role provides opportunity to provide subject matter expert knowledge to NDIS management and complete positive behaviour support plans for the NDIS teams in both Community and Residential Services.

Duties:

  • Conduct assessments, develop support plans and undertake reviews
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best health outcome for customers
  • Contribute to and assist with complex behaviour support
  • Coach, train and champion the implementation of positive behaviour strategies and dementia best practice
  • Undertake risk assessments
  • Gather and analyse data to inform behaviour support plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation/records
  • Support quality and continuous improvement to support achievement of business strategic goals

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Developmental Education, Disability or equivalent degree
  • Eligible to be a member DEAI (Development Educators Australia Incorporated)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of challenging behaviours, complex needs, mental health, emotional wellbeing, cognitive development and living with a disability
  • Experience in utilising assessment techniques, analysing information and clear decision making in planning, developing and implementing different strategies and programs
  • Coach and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work in a volume environment with a varied workload
  • Experience working with an older demographic
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Wonderful interpersonal skills, with outstanding written and verbal communication
  • Current drivers licence

The successful candidate will need to provide a 2020 Flu Vaccination Statement and a satisfactory police clearance less than 12 months old before commencement and a DHS Disability Clearance.
