The Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated Scrub Scout Registered Nurses to join the Operating Theatres Department with experience in Urology, Plastics, ENT and General Surgery. Our Registered Nurses are integral members of our multi-disciplinary team and have the opportunity to participate in all learning and development activities and are exposed to the latest surgical and medical approaches, new technologies and integrate methods of patient care.

These are permanent full time positions where right candidates will be responsible for planning and delivering the perioperative nursing care to patients and will assist through the operating procedure.

To be successful, you must possess the following:

  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • At least 5 year's scrub/scout experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Urology, Plastics, ENT and General Surgery.
  • Post graduate certificate or diploma in Perioperative nursing is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to work within the interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system.
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Essential requirements:

  • In accordance to guidelines set by NSW Health, all SVPHS employees are required to have up to date vaccinations before commencement. It is encouraged that you ensure your vaccinations are current ahead of time as you may be requested to provide documentation at interview stage.
  • Criminal record checks will be conducted and will form part of the selection criteria for this role.
