Who are we?

Wintringham is a Not for Profit organisation which provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged, have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities as well as community services, which assist an elderly person to retain their chosen lifestyles, habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

We are currently seeking a flexible and experienced Recreation Officer to join our team on a casual basis to work across our community program in the Greater Bendigo Region. Your responsibilities and duties will include:
  • Assisting clients living in their own homes to develop their recreational pursuits and interests, through identifying, creating and developing activities
  • Assisting clients in the individual facilitation of their recreation pursuits, through one-on-one facilitation and integrating clients into community recreation programs
  • Liaising with case managers and carers to develop a sound approach to the clients overall lifestyle and wellbeing. Assisting in the maintenance of accurate and relevant documentation.
  • Assisting clients with light household duties such as cleaning and cooking
  • Transporting clients to medical appointments and shopping

We are looking for candidates with the following:
  • Recreation, Leisure & Lifestyle qualifications or relevant degree level (students encouraged to apply)
  • Willingness to travel to and familiarity within the Bendigo area.
  • Ideally holds an additional qualification in Aged Care/Individual Support/Home & Community Care (highly advantageous)
  • Interest in Social Justice Issues
  • Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care, Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care - Highly Desirable
  • Current First Aid Certificate 2 – Highly Desirable
  • Current drivers licence
  • Own reliable vehicle that is suitable for transporting clients and work purposes
Applicants must disclose if they are currently working at another Residential Aged Care facility. There are current government directed guidelines that restrict Aged Care workers from working with more than one provider.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Police Records check. Refusal to provide your information to both of these parties will prevent Wintringham from being able to continue with your application. Applicants must undergo the NDIS Worker Screening Check at their own expense; however, Wintringham will cover the expense associated with obtaining a Police Records check.

Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.

Applicants must have already undertaken a flu vaccination within the 2020 calendar year in order to be considered for this role.
