About the Environmental Services Assistants opportunities at Monash Health


Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.


We are now recruiting an experienced Environmental Services Assistants at Monash Children’s Hospital, Clayton


About The Role


Working within Children’s hospital facilities, your main responsibility and accountability is cleaning task outcomes, working within the established procedures in both clinical and non-clinical areas. This position is responsible for cleaning a variety of public and clinical areas.


Roster : Monday to Thursday 7:00 to 15:15 (62 hrs per fortnight.)



  • Environmental cleaning

  • Bathroom and toilet cleaning

  • Cleaning in specialized areas i.e. Theatres, Emergency Department etc.

  • Waste removal & linen transportation

  • Internal and external detailed cleaning

  • Project and unscheduled cleaning


About You


You will offer a high standard of customer service along with great attention to detail. You will also need:



  • Certificate III in Cleaning Operations (desirable)

  • Certificate III Health Services Assistant (desirable)

  • A competent level of verbal & written communication skills

  • Previous housekeeping/cleaning experience within a healthcare setting

  • Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and procedures

  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks

  • Basic to intermediate digital literacy

  • Able to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling

  • Current Working with Children’s Check and subject to a clear Police Check

  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service and/or environmental services from a health care or hospitality environment (desirable)

  • Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures

  • Current completion of all mandatory training
