Your new team

  • Orygen Specialist Programs (OSP), a program of NorthWestern Mental Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 24 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.

  • The Inpatient Unit includes a 16 bed low-dependency area and a further 6 beds for targeted specialised service delivery for youth with complex mental and psychosocial needs.

  • The team is a vibrant enthusiastic group that value best care for young people experiencing first time mental illness.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Demonstrate significant problem-solving activities that may require considerable understanding and interpretation of facility and departmental policy.

  • Develop and maintain clinical programs which have implications for all nursing services within the inpatient unit a whole.

  • Provide expert clinical consultancy and dissemination of key messages across a range of key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide clinical leadership within mental health with proven ability to mentor and develop the mental health nursing workforce within a coaching framework.

Your Contribution

  • Current Authority to Practice from AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in mental health nursing.

  • Post graduate qualification in psychiatric/mental health nursing or have completed a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program.

  • Significant experience in the areas of Solution Focussed Therapy, Sensory Modulation, Safewards, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relational Therapy or subject areas relevant to inpatient setting

  • Demonstrated expert level clinical expertise to initiate and lead evidence-based nursing practice in the care delivery to consumers with complex mental health needs; including drug and alcohol and disability
