The Opportunity

Welfare Recruitment Solutions has been approached by a best practice industry leader in dementia care to assist recruiting Dementia Specialists providing best practice dementia advice and recommendations as part of their advisory and assessment service.
The Role

Working in a professional, highly supportive environment with experts in dementia care you will assist and make behavioural management recommendations to carers and families struggling to understand changes in behaviour. Through your direct experience working very closely with persons living with dementia and strong knowledge of different diagnoses, triggers and what behaviours/unmet needs might be presenting you will be responsible for providing advisory phone-based consultations. If there are extremely challenging behaviours these may be escalated and referred through to other specialised Consultants.
It is vital that you bring your warm nature to this role in being able to build rapport with ease particularly at a very concerning time. This role could additionally suit someone who has taken a step away from dementia care in a quality or management position and really misses the direct contact working with persons with dementia and making a wonderful difference in their lives and their families.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position you will need to have:

  • Previously worked very closely with persons living with dementia in either a community, aged care or acute/sub-acute environment where you’ve gained strong insight into behaviours that might present across different diagnoses.
  • Conducted assessments in a Nursing, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Behavioural Specialist/Psychologist, Diversional Therapist role who has been involved in dementia specific care planning.
  • Deep understanding of the complex needs and principles around best practice dementia care.
  • Outstanding customer service approach and a genuine passion and warmth to everyone you make contact with.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and leadership qualities in making recommendations.
  • Additional training or further tertiary qualifications in Dementia Care/Gerontology will be highly regarded.

The position is Monday to Friday working full-time hours however part-time will be considered and preferred hours can be discussed on application.
