The Opportunity

Welfare Recruitment Solutions has been approached by a best practice industry leader to assist recruiting Dementia Care Specialists who can provide assessment and behavioural management services for persons living with dementia and their families.

The Role

You will be responsible for providing face to face dementia behavioural consulting that involves assessing and case managing any concerning behaviours. This is a wonderful opportunity to specialise and be a dementia advocate by looking and responding to their needs holistically considering physical well-being, psycho-social and environmental factors at play and identifying triggers and unmet needs. In line with best practice dementia care you understand that behaviours are an important means of communication and the goal is to effectively respond to these needs and successfully recommend strategies so that the highest possible quality of life can be achieved.

It is vital that you bring your warm nature to this role in being able to build rapport with ease particularly at a very concerning time. This role could additionally suit someone who has taken a step away from dementia care in a quality or management position and really misses the direct contact working with persons with dementia and making a wonderful difference in their lives and their families.

The Candidate

To be considered you will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of different dementia diagnoses and BPSD along with the ability to understand and identify triggers/unmet needs.
  • Experience conducting cognitive assessments in a senior clinical role in residential, acute/sub-acute, community provider or government health service. Alternatively, you may have worked in a therapeutic role as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Diversional Therapy in aged care where you have worked extensively with persons living with dementia.
  • Additional tertiary qualifications either studying towards or completed in Dementia Care or Gerontology will be very highly regarded

There is flexible working from home arrangement on offer where you can travel to and from assessments from home. All Sydney metro-based applicants are encouraged to apply as there are different locations to be based from. NFP tax-free salary packaging of $15,900 p.a. and phone, laptop, car allowance.
