The opportunity
Locum Doctors who love making a difference in outback Australian communities will experience the full scope of rural generalism in NSW. You will experience a diverse scope of practice within this rural NSW town. The hospital has 3 Emergency & 8 Acute care beds, as well as an 18 bed, residential aged care unit; X-ray; pathology and renal dialysis facilities. This multi-purpose hospital also boasts excellent technologies which allow for a wide variety of virtual specialist clinics and allied health services.
The General Practice operates Monday to Friday and the town also have a dedicated Aboriginal Medical Service to support the high proportion (34%) of Indigenous residents through culturally appropriate medical care and efforts in closing the gap with health outcomes.
As part of the shared roster you will provide GP consults, ward rounds and a 1:3 on-call service for emergencies. The weekends and after-hours rosters are very manageable thanks to the multi-disciplinary support team. You will only be called out for Cat 1 & Cat 2 patients and enjoy excellent referral networks to other rural and tertiary facilities.

Located just a 2 hour drive from Dubbo this small country town is surrounded by natural wonders and plenty of near-by activities to offer. From the stunning Warrumbungle National Park to the rugged beauty of Macquarie Marshes Nature Reserve. Coonamble is home to Aussies biggest rodeo and sprawling with talented local artists whose work is showcased amongst the town. With an amazing array of birdlife you might even be lucky enough to get a few snaps during your visit.
Essential criteria
To apply for this role candidates must hold current work rights and Registration with AHPRA. Due to the remote nature of this role it is essential that applicants hold a current ALS and recent Emergency experience.
