 About the role

Churches of Christ in Queensland is currently seeking an experienced and committed professional to fill the role of Manager - Internal Audit, based in Kenmore. In this position you will have overall responsibility for the Internal Audit team. The role is responsible for delivering the internal audit plan as well as providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services to support the control environment and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Oversee the development of the internal audit plan with input from key stakeholders, and in response to identified areas of risk.
  • Lead reviews across the business, including ad hoc reviews upon management request and conduct with investigations.
  • Exercise commercial acumen and ensure audit findings are balanced, sustainable and risk based.
  • Assess and follow up the adequacy of the management actions to address issues and findings.
  • Develop and present high-quality deliverables (e.g. reports, dashboards, scope documents) both oral and written to management and Board committee.
  • Identify and implement operational improvement in the Internal Audit's own processes and tools.
  • Maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with executive and operational management.
  • Meet deadlines and effectively work with competing priorities.
  • Anticipate, share and stay abreast of business trends and key issues, including regulatory requirements, internal audit standards, audit techniques and business practices.

About you

As the Internal Audit Manager you will have:

  • Proven experience in an Internal Audit management role with a strong background in risk management and control assessment.
  • Accounting or business-related tertiary qualification, plus other relevant qualifications (CIA, IIA, CPA, CISA etc.).
  • Experience and knowledge in IIA standards, better practices and conducting investigations.
  • Experience in developing strategic and annual internal audit plans, frameworks and statements of work (including process mapping and risk/control identification).
  • Competency with various types of internal audits (covering operational, financial and performance internal audits, health checks & 'deep dives').
  • Exposure to data analytics and other internal audit tools.
  • Strong communication skills to negotiate and influence and build strong working relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail with high quality standards of work.
  • Proven leadership experience with the capacity to deliver results, inspire and motivate teams and work across organisational boundaries to achieve shared goals.
