About the role

A position is available for a Home Support Worker to join the Regis Home Care Team, working in Launceston . As a Home Support Worker you are the Regis representative in the homes of our valued clients. You play a vital role in providing customised care and services to each client, supporting them to maintain well-being and independence in their own surroundings for as long as possible. Shift times vary across a 24 hour schedule including weekends and public holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Home Support Worker with Regis Home Care, your role will be to:

  • Provide services to the client in their home as outlined in the Care Plan, and regularly review the Care Plan to ensure you have an up to date understanding of particular client circumstances, needs and services.
  • You will monitor the client and their environment and report any issues, needs, changes or suggestions to your Client Services manager

Your duties will differ according to the needs of the client, however may include:

  • Personal care - showering, oral care, continence management
  • Food preparation - preparing meals, monitoring foods and fluids
  • Social support - escorting the client on outings such as shopping trips, coffee/lunch excursions, visits
  • Transport - for the client to doctors appointments, to/from hospital, to/from respite care etc
  • Domestic Assistance - cleaning, tidying, bed making etc to ensure the client is living in an appropriately clean and sanitised environment
  • Medication Assistance - (subject to holding up to date competency) issuing and/or monitoring to ensure medication is being taken, assisting with simple dressings, application of ointments; basic observations such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and blood sugar; assisting with physiotherapy exercises.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified with a Certificate III in Community Care or Aged Care
  • Medication endorsed
  • A current drivers licence and own vehicle; road worthy with comprehensive insurance
  • Ability to drive a large manual vehicle
  • Previous experience in a AIN/PCA or Home Support Worker role
  • First Aid / CPR Qualifications
  • Police Clearance (within the last 6 months)

Mandatory requirements for all candidates

  • Evidence that you have had the 2020 Flu Vaccination or willingness to complete this before employment can be offered (VIC & QLD currently exempt)*
  • Proof of the right to work lawfully in Australia
  • Valid National Police Check (Full disclosure or standard disclosure)

*Subject to change, as per the relevant State and Territory Public Health Orders.
