About the Mental Health Program
Monash Health Mental Health Services provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs – a population of nearly one million. It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff.
About the Role
The Senior Social Work role will provide direct clinical expertise to the bed based service at Clayton. The role be expected to screen all consumers admitted to the unit and assess for any psychosocial issues that would impact upon their safety or the safety of others, their recovery journey and successful return to the community.
About You
We are seeking an experienced social worker to provide clinical social work input into the recovery journey for consumers who are admitted to the Clayton Mental Health Unit. We require someone with good communications skills who is able to work well with consumers and their families within the multidisciplinary team. It is an exciting opportunity as social work within our bed based services goes through a process of change.
The role provides an opportunity to develop your social work skills and to provide expert interventions on a range of issues ranging from providing information and support around psycho-social issues, assessing the needs and working towards the person successfully returning to the community, facilitating family meetings and running therapeutic groups.
What you need:
- Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) accredited Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a qualifying Masters of Social Worker
- Current registrations with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)
- Extensive experience as a social worker (preferably within a mental health setting)
