Job Description: Podiatrist

The podiatrist works closely with staff at all centres to provide a comprehensive general practice service for all clients referred through Shoalhaven Family Medical Centres. There is a high expectation that clinical staff operate in a collaborative team approach to all clients with chronic disease. The Podiatrist is required to be flexible, multi-skilled within the scope of practice and able to work with a diverse range of individuals, groups and community agencies. This role is for staff prepared to learn, take on new skills, responsibilities and the challenges of change in the primary health care setting. The bulk of podiatry services are delivered through chronic disease programs funded through Medicare MBS item numbers by the Podiatrist service provider.

Performance appraisal: six months after commencement and every 12 months thereafter.

Key criteria

Essential:

• Registered Podiatrist AHPRA licensed to practice
• Credentialed Podiatrist with Australian Podiatry Association
• At least one year of experience in podiatry management including hospital, community and general practice.
• Basic CPR Certificate (current)
• Work within the Scope of Practice, Standards of Practice, and Standards of Professional Performance for Credentialed Podiatrist
• Must maintain credentialing elements and meet all criteria for re-credentialing.
• Must be able to obtain Medicare Provider numbers for sites.
• Obtain and maintain own indemnity insurance.
• Positive, polite and professional demeanour.
• Professional presentation and representation.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Be able to work independently with little supervision.
• Be able to work in a team. 

Desirable:

• Competence in the use of Best Practice Software
• Experience in a similar role in a community-based setting
• Experience with specific groups serviced by practice, including infants, children, adolescents, aged care, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
