About The Company

Midwest Foods & Liquor is a locally owned foodservice and liquor distributor with over 5,000 products servicing the Central West of NSW for over 30 years. The business operates out of a modern 3,000m2 purpose-built distribution centre with capacity for future growth.

The team of 65 staff including a dynamic leadership team with many years of experience delivering excellence in service to customers in Central and Western NSW. The customer base includes Pubs and Clubs, Restaurants, Cafes, Takeaways, Schools, Institutions, Health and Aged Care facilities.

The business is a member of Countrywide Australasia which is the largest group of independent foodservice distributors in Australia accessing all major manufacturers and leveraging the groups purchasing power.

About The Role

Given strong and consistent business growth we have an exciting opportunity for a result driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a sound commercial background to help manage and drive the strategic business objectives. The COO will work closely with the Managing Director (MD) and the Executive to identify and define business opportunities through sound commercial acumen.

This role will involve managing a motivated team in all operational functions across the business aligning with the company values of Collaboration, Fairness, Integrity and Sustainability.


Oversee the daily operations in collaboration with the management team

Execute the business plan to achieve/exceed established financial objectives

Create comprehensive goals to promote performance and growth strategies

Effectively identify and resolve issues and conflicts with a practical, solution focused approach

Identify opportunities across the business to increase profitability and improve efficiency

Retain, attract, lead and coach a high-performing team

Lead, manage and hold direct reports accountable to KPI’s

Cultivate and manage healthy relationships with external customers and suppliers

Maintain a deep knowledge of market and industry

Skills & Experience

Proven results as a CEO, COO, General Manager or similar

Experience leading and building high-performing teams

Demonstrated success transitioning strategic level vision into day to day operations

Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operations metrics

A demonstrated result driven mindset

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Professional Qualifications Preferred

Ability to maintain a positive, collegial approach under pressure
