About Operating Theatre Services (Perioperative) at Monash Children's Hospital


Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) cares for more than 100,000 children per year, providing care across the continuum of paediatric services from pre-natal to 18 years of age. It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Australia and one of only two tertiary paediatric hospitals in Victoria. MCH is co-located next to Monash Medical Centre in Clayton and is a purpose-built paediatric facility where clinical services will be delivered in a child and family-friendly environment.


Our Operating Suite located at within a new purpose-built facility, featuring state of the art equipment within its four theatres & procedure room providing services to 4,000 patients a year. Our areas of focus include foetal consultation, congenital anomalies, solid tumours of childhood, chest & chest wall conditions, head and neck conditions, minimally invasive surgery and acute surgical care, however we also provide outpatient care and elective surgical care.

It is a fast-paced busy environment, where compassionate care for our young patients is our number one priority.


About the Role


We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Peri-Operative Nurse to fill the important clinical and operational leadership role as Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) on a Full time Ongoing capacity.


As ANM, your focus will be across General Surgery, ENT, Neuro and Plastics as the management team are looking for someone to lead by example and drive the team within the theatre environment.


Looking to grow our dedicated & knowledgeable team, we are wanting you to bring your demonstrated skills and experience within a paediatric theatre-based skillset to look after our special patients.


Taking a team focus on delivery of care, our primary focus is on a patient’s safe journey through theatre. We have a strong education focus and encourage staff to further develop their skills, along with being a part of a friendly and social environment to work in.


About You


We are seeking candidates with demonstrated theatre experience; ideally with knowledge and expertise across both Scrub/Scout and Anaesthetic/Recovery ready to step up into a leadership role, alternatively you may be an already established Associate Nurse Manager with demonstrated skills in motivating and leading a team looking to take the next step in your career.


As someone with a strong work ethic, self-motivation and personal values your contribution with the team will support each other and our organisation to be leaders in our field with exciting and progressive treatment and care.


You are adaptable to a changing environment as we work together to deliver first class service. Alongside your caring and engaging manner, you have a positive work attitude, strong communication skills and a strong people-person focus allowing you to engage with our special patients and their families.

What you need:



  • current AHPRA registration

  • employee level working with Children’s Check

  • proven clinical experience in Theatres, ideally Leadership and/or In Charge (essential)

  • relevant working visa

  • Qualification of Post Graduate studies within this specialist area (desirable, but not essential)

  • Paediatric nursing experience (desirable)
