About our Food Services department at Monash Health

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.

Our Dandenong Food Services team provide services to a culturally diverse patient base in a busy acute health setting with over 450 inpatient beds, a major emergency department and mental health facility. Our Food Services team across all our facilities includes our Central Production Kitchen, three major acute hospitals and Residential Aged Care Services facilities. Together we strive to develop and improve the patient food service experience in the public health setting.

About The Role

The Dandenong Hospital Food Services Manager is an essential member of our leadership team responsible for leading our Food Services team in our pursuit to provide an exceptional patient and employee[SM2] experience. We have recently implemented the SmartPak catering model including introducing all new equipment and successfully implemented changes to our daily operating procedures.

Working with team members at all levels, the Food Services Manager is accountable for service improvements, Food Safety Program compliance, and is responsible for the budget, employee management and overall department performance.

The Food Services Manager reports into the Support Services Manager, Dandenong Hospital and is supported by a broader team of People and Culture & Finance business partners, and Food Services Managers across multiples sites.

This is a full-time ongoing role, working conventional business operating hours Monday to Friday.

  • Achieving and maintaining the highest standards in food safety

  • Providing support and leadership to diverse employee base

  • Driving service excellence with our patients and internal stakeholders

About You

You will have proven food services leadership & excellent communication skills, resilience and a demonstrated success in change management and service improvement within the health sector (private or public).

Additionally you will be able to showcase a history of successful team management and stakeholder service and will be able to demonstrate your consultative approach through successes in previous roles and projects.

You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles.

What you need:

  • Current Food Safety Supervision – For Community Services and Health Industries

  • Working With Children’s employment check

  • Police Record Check – Vulnerable Sector

  • Proof of immunisation’s prior to offer of employment

  • Experience in a managerial role in a medium to large acute health setting.

  • Detailed knowledge of quality systems, ideally HACCP

  • Positive attitude and motivational approach in facilitating change and adopting new concepts.
