About the South East Public Health Unit COVID-19 (SEPHU)

The South East Public Health Unit COVID-19 (SEPHU) is a newly established unit working to prevent and respond to the spread of COVID-19 in the south-east suburbs of Melbourne. As part of this strategy, we operate six screening clinics throughout our catchment area and we are now looking to appoint an experienced, committed Nurse Manager to support the operation of this mission critical program.

About the role

Key to the success of this Unit is our ability to maintain community testing in accordance with DHHS guidelines. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, this role is responsible for leading and supporting around 70 staff delivering high quality COVID-19 screening services at our sites. Three of the sites operate in an outdoor drive-through model and from time to time, adverse weather conditions can impact our ability to provide a consistently seamless service.

We anticipate that the role will be “based” at Dandenong Hospital. If appointed, you will be expected to have a visible presence across the six sites to actively lead and support the team. This is a six month fixed term position, working full time hours.

Regular working hours are Monday-Friday, however there may be ad hoc instances requiring you to work a weekend shift.

About you/what you need
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Demonstrated success as an effective people manager across a varied workforce
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship development skills
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements when warranted
  • Postgraduate nursing and/or management qualifications will be highly regarded.
