JOB DESCRIPTION

Initial 5 month assignment to facilitate engagement with key stakeholders to seek insights and feedback to better define best practice aged care and improve agencies overall performance. This role will provide leadership and support for the organisation's engagement with key stakeholders. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead strategic engagement with peak sector organisations and other key stakeholders
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and feedback on key initiatives, projects and topics
  • Manage a small team that includes direct supervision of one Assistant Director (EL1) and an APS6 officer
  • Lead secretariat support, including planning and organisation of meetings, preparation of agenda papers, drafting of minutes and correspondence and advice to the Chair on emerging issues
  • Provide support for the organisation's engagement in other consultative activities including regional forums in consultation with the regional directors
  • Lead and support regular engagement with industry peak organisations on strategic issues
  • Provide strategic advice, problem solving and issues management in relation to complex and strategic matters
  • Assist with the management of critical and sensitive issues to deliver consistent strategic and quality messaging in line with current policies and objectives
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to staff working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment during a period of change

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective secretariat support at the level of a board or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a range of stakeholders in a strategic way to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Highly-developed written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate information coherently and concisely to audiences with a range of backgrounds and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage interpersonal relationships with respect and communicate with influence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment and foster a positive and supportive team culture
  • Capacity to work in a busy environment, working with competing priorities and ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload among a team to deliver agreed outcomes

Desirable qualifications or experience

  • Understanding of the Australian aged care system
  • Experience working in government
