This position will dieally be based out of our Sydney office.Bupa’s data estate is diverse, with heritage systems on premise and modern cloud-based platforms based on Microsoft Azure. Our DataOps team have a broad skill set, and work across various Data Services; Operational Data and Analytics, Data Warehouse and BI, Advanced Analytics and Self-service, and across different business units including; Health Insurance, Health Services, and corporate functions.The Data Engineer will be responsible for the design, build and run of batch and real-time data pipelines, to integrate, transform, and analyse data, using Microsoft technologies. As an all-rounder with data and Microsoft technologies, the Data Engineer may also help transform data into insights through the creation of reports, analytics, and dashboards using Microsoft tools.As a Data professional you are invested in improving processes to ensure Bupa’s data community have low friction and high value access to data.Reporting into the Head of Data Engineering, this role will have no direct reports. The main responsibilities are listed below:Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse requirements and design solutions that meet business objectives while also furthering the Data Office objectives
  • Consult and collaborate with your peers in designing robust and supported solutions
  • Model patterns, pipelines, and analytical solutions using Data Office guidelines and preferred solutions
  • Are hands on, and develop, test, and operate solutions
  • Keep yourself up-to-date with emerging technology and trends in data
  • Support the Data Office in the development and implementation of its Data Strategy, Data Governance program, Data Quality and Big Data Platform approaches and frameworks

Academic/Professional Qualifications
  • Educated to minimum of degree level in engineering, computer science or related technology discipline
  • Azure certifications(s)
  • ITIL Training or certification(s)
  • A thorough understanding of ETL frameworks and DW/DM processing patterns
  • Notable experience with dimensional modelling techniques
  • Expert level SQL/TSQL skills
  • Solid DML skills with database development/administration exposure
  • Substantial ‘enterprise’ experience with SSIS, including implementing complex data pipelines within best practice frameworks, at scale
  • Solid experience with SSAS/SSRS and Microsoft BI Tools including Power BI
  • A background with Microsoft scripting and programming languages
  • Exposure to implementing solutions on-premise and via Azure IAAS and PAAS
  • Bonus – Azure related Big Data or Stream Processing experience.
  • Bonus – Python, Java, Scala skills
