About the opportunity
Uniting Farmborough in Unanderra is seeking a Cook to run our production kitchen. You will work collaboratively with our care teams to deliver planned catering services and meals to our residents.
This role is permanent part-time – 30 hours per week.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Facilitate and oversee the quality, timely and effective preparation of food in line with the unique and rapidly changing needs of the residents
- Plan and develop rotating menus in consultation with the Service Manager and residents
- Prepare and cook all daily meals and maintain the storage and protection of catering supplies for optimal use
- Ensure food preparation and catering practices adhere to hygiene and safety principles and are free of any hazards
Skills & experience
- Certificate 3 in Hospitality or Commercial Cookery or similar
- Experience with preparation of menus, purchasing, food storage and efficient use of food supplies
- Knowledge of current safe food handling practices
- Recent proven management skills and the ability to supervise staff when required
- Previous experience in the aged care industry is desirable
