About the opportunity

Uniting Farmborough in Unanderra is seeking a Cook to run our production kitchen. You will work collaboratively with our care teams to deliver planned catering services and meals to our residents.

This role is permanent part-time – 30 hours per week.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Facilitate and oversee the quality, timely and effective preparation of food in line with the unique and rapidly changing needs of the residents
• Plan and develop rotating menus in consultation with the Service Manager and residents
• Prepare and cook all daily meals and maintain the storage and protection of catering supplies for optimal use
• Ensure food preparation and catering practices adhere to hygiene and safety principles and are free of any hazards

Skills & experience

• Certificate 3 in Hospitality or Commercial Cookery or similar
• Experience with preparation of menus, purchasing, food storage and efficient use of food supplies
• Knowledge of current safe food handling practices
• Recent proven management skills and the ability to supervise staff when required
• Previous experience in the aged care industry is desirable
