We are currently seeking to appoint a Service Leader to lead our Time for Grandparents and Seniors Enquiry Line program. This is a Full Time opportunity based in Chermside on Brisbane’s north side.
The Role:
The Service Leader supports the Service Manager in leadership and management within the Older persons Program service to ensure the goals and objectives are met as identified in the Service Agreement and within prescribed time frames and parameters.
You will be required to provide professional leadership to staff in the Older Persons Program team facilitating the development of quality practice and effective co-ordination of service delivery to clients accessing the Older Persons Program (OPP). Within the OPP there is the Elder Abuse prevention Unit (EAPU), the Time for Grandparents Program (TFG) and the Seniors Enquiry Line (SEL).
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have experience in leading a team to achieve service performance outcomes together with an ability to provide quality supervision and training.
Supplementing this, you will present with the following:
- Have experience in working within a counselling capacity while responding appropriately to any risk and safety issues of clients.
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology or Social Science) as required by relevant service contracts
- Significant Community and/or Aged Care Sector / Industry experience or similar.
- Working knowledge and comprehensive understanding of community aged care services.
- Experience in coaching and developing staff, strong practice focus, relevant practice supervision experience
- Thorough understanding of program management and leadership principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and licensing requirements associated with line of service. You will also demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation and associated legal issues related to older people, and of government and non-government agencies that are responding to issues of older people and elder abuse.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective systems, procedures and processes within prescribed policies and guidelines.
- Commitment to working within the beliefs, mission and values of UnitingCare Community.
- Current drivers’ license.
- Positive Blue Card

- Demonstrated ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal/professional growth by keeping abreast of relevant social issues and trends
