Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Speech Therapist at St Joseph's Hospital, Auburnwith appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to provide a high standard of evidence based speech pathology assessment and treatment of adults with neurogenic communication &/or swallowing impairments, including in the areas of Motor Neurone Disease and Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), and be able to utilise advanced clinical reasoning skills to solve complex problems creatively.

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

  • Bachelor or Post-graduate Degree in Speech Pathology & eligibility for full practising Membership of Speech Pathology Australia

  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

  • Advanced clinical experience and demonstrated competency in the evidence based assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing impairment in an adult neurogenic caseload.

  • Advanced clinical experience in the management of those with progressive neurological conditions primarily Motor Neurone Disease.

  • Advanced clinical experience or demonstrated knowledge in the area Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), including high-tech AAC.

  • Clear, concise written & verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams including interdisciplinary appointments.
