  • An exciting opportunity for an experience Dietician to join our amazing team.

The Role

The role of the Dietitian is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of Dietetics service is provided to patients of the Hospital, along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. The Senior Dietitian will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient centred, evidence based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare and Dietitian’s Association of Australia

The essence of this role:

  • Provision of effective and efficient Dietetics service to clients and appropriate support and advice to their carers
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing patients’ level of functional and care needs, setting nutrition goals and providing appropriate intervention.
  • Participate as a member of the HammondCare team and the local Allied Health leadership team in the application of the organisation’s Mission and values to the pursuit of its objectives in a client centred, continuous quality improvement work environment
  • Provide leadership within allocated specialty area including supervision of allocated staff and students in the performance of their duties and the provision of the highest standards of quality care.
  • Advocate for the role of nutrition across the organization, including staff health promotions.
  • Provide a consultative service to catering (including Diet Aides) and IT staff to support HammondCare’s food culture

The criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics acceptable to Dietitians Association of Australia
  • Minimum 1-2 years clinical experience in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Eligible for APD status through Dietitians Association of Australia
  • Experience in staff or student supervision
  • Extensive knowledge or experience in food service menu management
  • Significant practical experience or Extensive Knowledge in providing Nutrition and Dietetics Services in a Rehabilitation, Aged Care or Palliative Care setting. Experience across inpatient and outpatient/ community settings would be desirable.
  • A current driver’s licence and safe driving record and Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
