About the Role


The Dandenong Hospital Social Work Department is looking for an experienced Grade 1 social worker to join the team working in the acute setting including general medicine, surgery and specialty areas. This position is a full time temporary position and is part of a flexible team who collaborate to provide a holistic approach to service delivery across Dandenong Hospital and work collaboratively across all sites bed-based and community. This clinical role provides an opportunity to showcase your skills in working with people from a range of diverse backgrounds as well completing complex psychosocial assessments and development of patient centred care plans. Bed-based service delivery includes rosters servicing the emergency department, women’s and children’s wards and on-call programs.


You will be a member of a dynamic Social Work and Allied Health team working in a collaborative model of care across Monash Health. The position is located at Dandenong Hospital and works closely with the internal and external stakeholders to provide care founded on current evidence-based practice for patients accessing care through the inpatient and community based setting.


About You


You will have experience as a health social worker and worked within the multidisciplinary team. You will have demonstrated experience as a worker who is able to work collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What you need:



  • Bachelor Social Work or Master Social Work (Qualifying)

  • Experience working in a community health or hospital setting

  • Current driver’s license

  • Current working with children’s check

  • you must be eligible for AASW membership including continuing professional education
