Position Title: Mental Health Pathways in Practice (MHPiP) Project Coordinator – (Nurse Educator)

Employment Status: Max Term, Full Time (Until April 2022)
Hours per week: 38 hrs/week

Salary: $117, 667.89 - $120,010.71

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Mental Health Nurse Educator with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. The Mental Health Pathway in Practice (MHPiP) is an improvement program to support the application of a standardised capability framework into mental health nursing. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for the development and application of this pathway to support the mental health nursing workforce, in addition to allied health and other areas of health who work closely with mental health consumers to have a standardised knowledge base and the ability to apply skills required to provide care within NSW Public Mental Health Services.

Through close liaison with the Director of Nursing, the Mental Health Services Manager, the Director of Mental Health Services and Nursing Education, the successful applicant will lead in the development of a state-wide Professional Development Pathway for mental health nursing and the implementation and continued support of the Pathway throughout the Specialty Network.

The MHPiP Nurse Educator will work with the Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO) and the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) to prioritise and develop content for the MHPiP and engage in the leadership program for all NSW MHPiP Coordinators to further develop and enhance their leadership capabilities to support their roles in program delivery and sustainability design.

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency
  • Relevant post-graduate education qualifications or relevant post-graduate clinical qualifications with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate education programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative educational strategies, tools and approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a nurse educator, with evidence of implementation of quality improvement projects or role out of educational programs.
