Your new team

  • We enjoy a collaborative working environment and the appointed scientist will work with the various research groups within the Division of Molecular Research & Development at VIDRL.
  • You will help us to assess antiviral immune responses contributing to the clearance of a viral infection and be involved in exciting scientific discussions and presentations.
  • You will be supported by an open and interacting team, and exposed to an international collaborative effort.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Support the research activity for characterising antiviral immune responses and their ability to interfere with the hepatitis B virus (HBV) reproduction cycle.
  • Isolate and to identify immune cell populations producing antiviral antibodies.
  • Strengthen our investigations for the development of non-infectious HBV virus-like particles (VLPs) as immunogens.
  • Characterise the VLPs by biochemical and immunological approaches (to determine their antigenicity and immunogenicity)
  • Be well organised and self-motivated, to have high standard of record keeping skills, and good communication and teamwork skills.

Your Contribution

  • PhD and postdoctoral experience for at least two years, or alternatively, be a qualified research assistant with more than 5 years of experience in a research laboratory (in the area of cellular immunology).
  • Sound laboratory skills and the capacity to undertake developmental work, independently and under supervision
  • You are experienced with human blood samples for the identification of lymphocyte populations with antiviral activity.
  • You are experienced with small animal models and animal handling according to Animal Care and Use Standards (Research Ethics and Integrity) to perform immunisation studies and to analyse the antiviral immune response.
  • You are competent in applying flow cytometric methodologies and cell sorting approaches for the identification of antiviral immune cell populations
  • You must be able to work effectively as part of a team
