SECASA Aware Clinician

An exciting opportunity is available to expand and enhance your social work skills at the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA) in the Aware Program. We are seeking an experienced clinician to work therapeutically with families / carers and young people who have engaged in concerning or Harmful Sexual Behaviours. You will have professional experience working with and responding to complex trauma related to sexual assault and/or family violence and or harmful sexual behaviours. You will have experience using strengths based interventions within a framework of intersectionality, gender equality and a human rights based approach.

You will have demonstrable experience in working collaboratively with key agencies, within the scope of relevant legislation and professional guidelines. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work independently and contribute to a resilient team.

About SECASA

The Southern Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA), a program of Monash Health, has the responsibility in the Southern Region of the Department of Human Services for:

  • The provision and development of effective services to victim/survivors and associated people affected by sexual assault and family violence
  • The provision and development of effective services for adolescents who have engaged in Harmful sexual behaviour
  • The provision of public education and professional training on sexual assault and anti-violence issues
  • Social planning and processes related to reducing societal violence
These services are provided in the Southern Metropolitan Region that includes the south-eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula, the Greater Dandenong area and Cardinia and Casey Shires.

The service operates in various locations around the region including Dandenong, Cranbourne, Frankston, Rosebud, St Kilda and East Bentleigh. A Crisis Care Unit is located at the Clayton Campus of Monash Medical Centre.

About the Role

Aware clinicians provide assessment and intervention for children and young people with concerning and/or harmful sexual behaviours. Clinicians work closely with family and or carers. In addition clinicians provide education to the wider community on supporting children and young people to engage in safe and respectful behaviours.
  • The position is fixed-term.
  • You will have or be eligible for membership of AASW with CPE
  • The position will be based in Dandenong at the MDC.

Selection Criteria An Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accredited Bachelor Degree or entry level Master's Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the AASW

Minimum of two years' experience as a qualified social worker

Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child development and the benefits intervention to promote a healthy developmental trajectory

Able to work collaboratively with peers showing flexibility and adaptability in a multidisciplinary setting highly developed written and verbal communication skills

Abilitty to work autonomously to develop and facilitate individually tailored case plans for clients
