About Medical Oncology

The Medical Oncology Unit at Monash Health is one of the largest in Australia. It comprises inpatient, outpatient and chemotherapy infusion services as well as an extensive clinical trials unit to provide comprehensive cancer care in all tumour streams and disciplines for all patients. In keeping with Monash Health’s iCARE values, the unit acts with integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence to promote best practice and management for the benefit of all patients. Key areas include the provision of chemotherapeutics for all solid organ malignancies being treated with curative or palliative intent. Services are provided at Moorabbin Hospital (inpatient, outpatient and infusion centre), Dandenong Hospital (inpatient, outpatient and infusion centre) as well as Monash Medical Centre (Clinical trials at the Monash Health Translational Precinct – MHTP and inpatient services).

About the Role

To provide cover during maternity leave for the Advanced Trainee of Oncology (Registrar) position in the Monash Health Medical Oncology Unit, consistent with the Monash Health values, support best patient care and to further the development of the Medical Oncology at Monash Health into a world-leading academic unit.

The post may involve rotation through the in-patient ward, the Moorabbin CDU/outpatient clinic post and the Dandenong position. The CDUs are supported by a HMO and registrar's duties include supervision of patients attending for chemotherapy, attending to inter-current problems and managing chemotherapy related side effects. The position may also be involved in attendance at several tumour site specific clinics. Clinical duties are rostered to a total of 43 hours per the award including five hours a week of rostered training time.

May involve consultation with patients of other units both at Moorabbin and Clayton campuses. The on-call role is largely telephone based, but there is an infrequent need for call back to attend high acuity patients at the Moorabbin campus or occasionally the Emergency Department at Clayton campus. Participation at clinical meetings will include case presentations, journal article reviews and topic presentations.

What you need
·
A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
· Trainee of relevant Medical college, with FRACP Part 1 exam (or provisional)
· Motor vehicle driver licence
