CGH is the major provider of health and residential aged care services in the Wellington Shire. Our sub-regional health service provides primary, secondary and tertiary services that include the Sale Hospital. As well as the smaller Maffra and Heyfield Hospitals plus 4 residential aged care facilities.

The Sale Hospital provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). The Sale Hospital has a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal special care nursery, four operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation

About Department

The Emergency Department is a 9 bed unit, including 2 Treatment rooms with an additional 2 Consulting rooms. The Department provides facilities to treat patients with a range of presentations, including those from minor through to major illnesses / injuries. The ED has approximately 17,000 presentations per year.

About the Role

The ANUM fulfills the roles and responsibilities of the registered nurse, demonstrating expert knowledge and skills whilst undertaking a prominent management focus within the ED. The ANUM is an important member of the ED’s management team, supporting and assisting the NUM in the course of their duties to ensure efficient and effective operation of the clinical environment. The ANUM assumes the responsibilities of the NUM in their absence and accordingly must have knowledge of the administrative operation of the ED as well as be involved in the delivery of direct patient care. This will occur within the principles of care coordination, where patients/clients/residents have access to a highly coordinated health care and community support system.

Duties

  • To work as part of a large multidisciplinary team that provides services across a broad range of acute, sub-acute, palliative and community support services;
  • To provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager and provide leadership to unit staff;
  • To balance competing priorities and work demands and to identify and respond appropriately to critical and urgent clinical needs;
  • To understand and operate in a work environment driven by the need to meet a clinical quality and safety guideline; and
  • To work closely and in collaboration with internal and external stake holders.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse holding a current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification (s) in Emergency and / or Critical Care Nursing
