Jewish Care Victoria, a not-for-profit organisation, is the largest provider of aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria. Services include Aged Residential Care, Assessment Referral and Individual Support Services, Community Aged Care, Disability, Mental Health, Youth and Family Services and Holocaust Survivors Programs.

The role

An opportunity has become available within our Community Team for a Senior Database Officer to receive and accurately process donations, ensuring timely entry into Jewish Care's donor database while maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the database at all times. Prior knowledge of Raiser's Edge software platform (provider - Blackbaud) is highly advantageous as we are looking for an individual who can hit the ground running! You will analyse and report on data sourced from the donor database to inform decision making and support recommendations to expand current and new donor sources, fundraising campaigns and planned giving activities. 

The key responsibilities of this role are: 

  • Create complex queries (data extraction) within the donor database (Raiser’s Edge) to enable detailed data mining
  • Generate all lists for physical or digital communication with donor database
  • Provide high quality data analysis to maximise marketing opportunities to ensure fundraising and community engagement goals are achieved
  • Produce comprehensive, on-going fundraising financial analysis and reports
  • Identify new streams of potential prospects through detailed analysis of database and research of global fundraising initiatives
  • Ensure database hygiene and accuracy is maintained to the highest standard
  • Database entry and extraction for events
  • Process all donations and pledges (physical and digital) as an end-to end process which includes receiving donation or pledge to producing banking, receipting and thanking donors in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • Generate and send donation acknowledgement letters or certificates
  • Respond to queries from donors in a timely manner regarding credit card transactions, invoicing, payments
  • Troubleshoot donation/receipt issues
  • Generate banking reports daily
  • Provide weekly and monthly fundraising financial reports to the General Manager Community, Executive and the Board
  • Develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend Raiser’s Edge ongoing education offerings to ensure currency of technical skills
  • Train staff on using Raiser’s Edge
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the Fundraising Manager

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in the specialised operations of Raiser’s Edge donor database
  • Significant experience in data analysis
  • Previous experience in fundraising and marketing
  • High level administrative skills to ensure accurate and timely processing of donations
  • Proven proficiency in the use and application of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Database entry and maintenance
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Strong IT, desktop research and analytical capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of reporting
  • Ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Excellent communications skills and positive collegial approach
  • Demonstrated maturity and high ethical standards in dealing with sensitive financial and confidential matters
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse cultural environments; familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions would be an advantage
