Works Supervisor - Facilities Maintenance

Rapid has an opening for an experienced Works Supervisor in our Facilities Maintenance Division.

Our FM division undertakes planned/scheduled and reactive building and building services maintenance. We operate a 24/7 urgent/emergency call-out facility and provide a direct employee trade workforce, as well as coordinating a stable of approved subcontractors. The division focuses on a range of clients in the social and community housing, health, aged care and charity sectors. Personnel in the facilities maintenance division are also required to work as part of the team to manage end-to-end processes seeking new work, including preparation and submission of quotes, tenders, estimates and expressions of interest; we encourage our people to foster and nurture new business leads and opportunities and seek candidates with the skills and knowledge to make this happen.

As a Work Supervisor in this division you will possess extensive knowledge of, and experience working in, the social and community housing sector for clients in the Greater Sydney Metropolitan region and be familiar with Schedules of Rates, Specifications, Codes of Conduct and other tools and resources applicable to clients such as NSW Land & Housing Corporation, Mission Australia Housing and St George Community Housing.

Salary to be negotiated with the successful candidate based upon skills, knowledge and experience, with an indicative range between $100k and $130k.

Essential skills and attributes include:

  • Be a self-starter and a team player
  • Advanced spoken and written English language skills
  • Knowledge of the use of MRP08 SOR & CHISOR
  • Advanced skills in the MS Office Suite
  • Extensive experience delivering building, construction and maintenance works in occupied, operating environments
  • Advanced working knowledge of social and community housing stock in Greater Sydney Metropolitan and regional NSW areas
  • Working knowledge of residential construction and maintenance terminologies, methodologies, tools and materials
  • Familiarity with NSW LAHC “Scoper’s Estimator”
  • Advanced working knowledge of the National Construction Code
  • Advanced working knowledge of NSW LAHC Technical Specifications
  • Ability to efficiently scope building fabric upgrades such as vacant/end-of-tenancy restorations and O/T upgrades and modifications
  • Minimum 5 years working in a similar role
  • Valid unrestricted driving license
  • Current unrestricted WWCC
  • General Induction for Construction “Whitecard”

Desirable skills and attributes include:

  • Cert IV Building and Construction
  • Asbestos Awareness/Removal/Supervision
  • Senior First Aid
  • Willingness to travel as well as the Greater Sydney region to country areas in NSW for work purposes
  • Familiarity with Fire Safety Upgrade methodologies and SOR used by NSW LAHC
  • Trade qualifications in carpentry, electrical or plumbing
