Mental Health Program

We offer one of the largest integrated public mental health services in Victoria. Our programs support more than one million people across Monash Health’s geographically and culturally diverse catchment population including areas of significant socioeconomic disadvantage. We also offer regional specialist services to the south eastern metropolitan and Gippsland regions for eating disorders and perinatal mental health services.

The central function of the SECU is to provide contemporary, high-quality, interdisciplinary secure extended care and treatment services for consumers with enduring psychiatric conditions. The SECU provides targeted treatment and rehabilitation programs that maximise individual functioning, reduces the barriers to recovery, and promotes return to community living or another residential placement.

The role of Senior Clinician - Behaviour Management Consultant is to facilitate the embedding of behavioural management into all aspects of the SECU Model of Care. A core function of the role will be the provision of primary and secondary consultation to the SECU team and playing a key part in the development of comprehensive behavioural plans for identified consumers of the service. The role requires experience in working with consumers who have a history of offending behaviours or are at risk of offending behaviours

About you

You are an experienced, energetic and determined in the operational roles you have undertaken within mental health and forensic settings. You are highly motivated and thrive on the challenge of supporting and developing teams and clinical programs. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, you are a team player, and possess well developed negotiation and influencing abilities that will be used in working with internal and external stakeholders involved with identified individuals.

You work collaboratively and think flexibly about what interventions may assist each individual and your track record includes demonstrated success in the following areas:

  • Working effectively with clinical leads and highly skilled staff within teams

  • Liaising with effectively negotiating with people and services to improve patient outcomes

  • A commitment to access and service provision in public mental health

  • Mentoring, coaching and supervision of staff and health professional students

  • Previous experience in continuous improvement including measuring clinical effectiveness, and undertaking quality and research initiatives
