About Curtin Heritage Living

Curtin Heritage Living is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that has been providing a range of services to older members of the western suburbs for over 40 years.

About the role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team 3 days per week (0700 – 1500 on a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). The position is for a 12-month maternity leave cover commencing early May 2021.

What you will be doing

  • Act as a primary advocate for the resident and their representatives and ensure the dignity, privacy and freedoms of residents are upheld
  • Undertake assessments, care planning and nursing interventions in partnership with residents and their representatives, and in line with resident needs and preferences, professional guidelines and organisational process.
  • Liaise with medical, allied health, pharmacies, service providers and equipment providers to ensure holistic, comprehensive delivery of care.
  • Document and report care interventions, observations, changes in needs and resident feedback in an accurate, objective and efficient manner.
  • Work as a team to deliver consistent, resident-focused services.
  • Coordinate staff on a shift-by-shift basis. 
  • Assist in the review and dissemination of clinical policies, procedures and assessment tools under the direction of the Service Manager. 
  • Provide clinical advice and education to staff to ensure appropriate care. 
  • Assist in the delivery of local clinical training and competency programs. 
  • Ensure the proper use of any personal protective clothing and equipment. 

Who we're looking for

Essential:

  • Demonstrated aptitude to help improve the lives of older people. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to take a leadership role. 
  • Reliable and positive work ethic. 
  • Attention to personal appearance. 
  • Registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA). 
  • National Police Clearance (current to within three-years). 
  • Australian working rights. 
  • Basic computer skills. 

Desirable:

  • Experience working in aged care, community services or disability services. 
  • Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Experience working in a client focused culture that values continuous improvement. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to adapt work priorities and meet deadlines depending on the needs of the resident. 
  • Bachelor of Science or Nursing (or equivalent). 
  • Demonstrated understanding of accreditation standards and funding rules.
