    About the Role ...

    Food Services Assistant are valued team members who report to the Cook/Chef and assist with preparation of food and hospitality services providing a high quality dining experience for our residents. This role will also back fill for the Cook/Chef as needed.

    Food Services Assistants are responsible for providing a high standard of food safety in preparation and serving of meals and hospitality services in a residential aged care setting, including following directions from the Cook/Chef with kitchen cleaning, safe storage of foods, serving of meals to residents and assisting with preparation of specific dietary requirements for residents.

    We have casual bank shifts available, across a variety of (rostered) Monday to Sunday - AM, PM shifts.

    You are a highly organised, energetic and self-motivated individual - someone who can manage their time and be flexible to the need and priority. You'll have a high level of teamwork with colleagues and empathy and compassion too.

    To be successful in this role you would need to possess the following: 

    Essential skills and competencies:

    • Teamwork with colleagues
    • Friendly and positive personality
    • Effective English communication skills
    • Experience in hospitality, preferred in aged care
    • A passion for working in aged care setting
    • Food Safety Certificate
    • Computer and documentation skills
    • Understanding of Hygiene and Safety practices in aged care
    • Current police check

    Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

    • Trade Certificate in Cookery
    • Work experience of 6 months or more in aged care or Hospitality
    • Certificate II or III in Hospitality
    • An understanding of Aged Care Standards, continuous improvement, accreditation in Aged Care and ACFI requirements
    • An understanding of Food Safety and OH&S in aged care
