About our Residential Aged Care with ‘The Avenue’ Chestnut Gardens - Monash Health


Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.


Our Residential Program offers the full range of residential services including: Low care (hostel), high care (nursing home), ageing in Place, respite care, dementia and also specialised care, across 5 dedicated locations of South East Melbourne. We practice a social model of care delivered by qualified nursing, allied health, lifestyle and support staff, also having access to the medical and mental health expertise.


The Avenue is a 40 bed unit, of which 10 are dementia specific and 30 mental health. Our focus is to support older people with complex mental and physical health issues. We aim to help our residents maintain a sense of wellbeing, have choice in their lives and continue to feel valued members of the community.


About The Role


An exciting opportunity has become available for experienced Registered Nurses to join our leadership team. We are seeking both a Permanent and Fixed term Associate Nurse Manager, to assist 'The Avenue' Aged Mental Health Unit leadership team located in Doveton.


Your leadership will play a pivotal role in delivering quality care and effective functioning of the unit, providing clinical support to the team and to deputise for the Nurse Manager when required, along with delivering high quality service to our residents.


We currently have Part Time opportunities available in both Fixed Term and Ongoing capacity.


About You


Whether you have been developing your management and leadership skills or you are an accomplished Associate Nurse Manager; either way, you are ready to take this next step in your career. You lead by example and are passionate about providing quality care to residents of our home. 


You will have experience as an In charge within either an Acute or Subacute environment. You will have a genuine passion to assist our elderly consumers and provide exceptional nursing care.


You are resilient, with a non judgemental approach, having already experienced challenging situations in the workplace. 


We provide ongoing support with guidance, training and promote opportunities for personal growth through your nursing career.


As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will possess the following skills & abilities:



  • Ability to manage clinical and operational emergencies

  • Nursing experience in either Acute/General or Mental health to support your required experience, with Aged Care as an added advantage

  • Post graduate qualification OR commitment to undertake Mental Health studies to support your leadership role

  • Previous experience in a nursing leadership role (desirable)

  • Strong, adaptive and consultative management style

  • Well-developed communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Current AHPRA Registration

  • Current Employee Working with Children Check

  • Working rights in Australia
