Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Hours per week: 38 hours per week
Position Grade: Health Manager Level 4
Salary: $127,766.15 - $152,864.22 base salary per annum

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists within the People & Culture Department for a highly motivated Workplace Relations Specialist with extensive Employee Relations/Industrial Relations (ER/IR) knowledge and skills to join our progressive and innovative team.

The Workplace Relations Specialist, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney is a key member of the People & Culture Department, within the Workplace Relations function. The position is responsible for providing high quality professional services and assisting the smooth operation of ER/IR services within St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, human resources management, employee relations and/or demonstrated extensive professional experience within relevant field with a strong understanding of contemporary ER/IR legislation and practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills relating to the assessment, review or investigation of complex concerns raised regarding employee conduct within the parameters of relevant legislation, policy and guidelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a large and varied caseload of complex matters including restructures, misconduct procedures and industrial tribunal matters (unfair dismissal, dispute resolution and general protections claims) with demonstrated advocacy skills in matters before various tribunals and courts.

  • Demonstrated superior communication skills both oral and written, including negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills, coaching and training others and an ability to prepare detailed and accurate correspondence and briefing notes.

  • A high level of professionalism and personal integrity, self-motivation, drive, initiative and the ability to motivate and assist others to develop skills and capability in managing ER/IR matters.

  • Proven experience and ability to engage and influence stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Demonstrated experience analysing and reviewing HR policy and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and best practice.
