About the role

Cloncurry is a Multipurpose Health Service that has 15 acute care beds, 10 Aged Care beds, Community Health Centre, X-Ray department and Pharmacy. Visiting services include Child Health, and Immunisations, working closely with Central West Queensland Medicare Local, Centacare and Blue Care. A range of visiting specialists include Paediatrician, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, General Surgeon, Woman's Health Nurse, Renal Nurse Practitioner.

The Registered Nurse:

  • Is responsible and accountable for delivering quality patient focused, evidence based nursing care, providing leadership, direction and support to other nursing staff and students and working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Will empower consumers to make informed health care decisions through consultation and education. Participation in the Performance and Development process of the hospital.
  • Will deliver evidence-based care by working in partnership with consumers, carers, external agencies and other health professionals to promote integrated health care.

 Are you the right person for the job?

  • Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent, qualification, registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and possession of a current annual practising certificate are mandatory requirements for this role.
  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide leadership to other Registered Nurses (RN's), Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs).
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders,
  • including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.

  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role.
  • Pre-employment screening, including an Aged Care criminal history and discipline history checks, may be undertaken on persons recommended for employment.
