Centacare is the social services arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and has been operating in South East Queensland for over 50 years. With more than 3500 employees working across a range of community services providing aged care, disability services, family relationship services and child care to over 100,000 clients per year.

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) team currently consists of 7 WHS Advisors and 2 Injury Management Advisors supporting both Archdiocese and Centacare agencies in meeting their WHS obligations. Due to an internal promotion we are currently seeking applications for a WHS Advisor position to provide advice, support and build capability within the Centacare Community Services agency.

Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Conduct Compliance Audits of Work Health and Safety Management System under direction from the WHS Director and Manager
  • Be the first point of contact for the provision of advice and support to Centacare Community Services employees on WHS matters
  • Coordination of risk identification, assessment and solutions to control risk including training
  • Investigate WHS incidents
  • Produce timely and accurate reports for senior stakeholders
  • Identify and develop strategies to address emerging injury / incident trends
  • Drive key safety projects to address high risk activities
  • Provide WHS support for all building / maintenance projects as required
The successful candidate will require:
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualifications
  • Allied Health Qualification in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy would be desirable
  • Current QLD open driver’s licence
  • 3 plus years previous experience in a similar WHS position ideally in a multi-site organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to influence capability at all stakeholder levels
  • Experience in not-for-profit organisations is desirable
  • Experience in manual handling training
This is a permanent full-time position of 37.5 hours per week and remuneration will reflect the experience of the successful candidate.
