An exciting opportunity exists to join Coledale Hospital as an Enrolled Nurse. Coledale Hospital is currently hiring permanent part-time and casual staff.

Where you'll be working

Coledale Hospital specialises in rehabilitation and aged care services for the Northern Illawarra. It has a purpose-built unit for patients awaiting nursing home placement. Coledale Hospital was opened in 1917 as a result of the efforts of local miners and townspeople who wanted a hospital to service the medical needs of local miners.

What You'll Be Doing

The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for the provision of compassionate and professional nursing care to all patients. The Enrolled Nurse is the patient/client's advocate and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/ clients of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District consistent with the LHDs policies, procedures and standards.

The Enrolled Nurse works under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Enrolled Nurse retains responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the registered Nurse for delegated functions.

Professional development and active participation in the service Quality Improvement program are integral components of the role. All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.

The Enrolled Nurse without notation is to administer medications that are within their scope of practice.

Selection Criteria

  • Current registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with Medication Administration Endorsement
  • Demonstrated commitment to person centered care and NSW Health Core Values.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of acute care nursing
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, organise workload and effectively manage time
  • Demonstrated critical thinking around evidence based practice
