The Opportunity

Our Hervey Bay team are seeking a part-time (15hrs + per week) Personal Care Assistant who has experience in the Home Care industry, and who is committed to ensuring the highest possible standard of in-home care for our valued clients. We know that being a PCA can be a physically demanding and challenging role, but it is also one of unparalleled reward. You can go home each day knowing that you have made a positive social impact to someones day.

While experienced PCAs will be quite familiar with the role, a list of duties is provided below:

  • Provide consumer directed care services to clients as prescribed in the clients care plan
  • Assist clients with ADL activities to help maintain an independent lifestyle, including meal preparation and laundry duties as required
  • Assist clients with nutrition and hydration needs as required
  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers
  • Ensure the client’s wellbeing is considered at all times by working under the wellness and re-ablement philosophy
  • Actively participate in care plan development, including performing assessments, documenting client progress and ensuring the clients ever changing needs are being met
  • Assist clients with general domestic duties as prescribed in the clients’ care plan
  • Support the clients' interests and rights to actively participate in the community and make choices suitable to their needs

About the Successful Candidate

The successful person for this position will have:

  • Relevant Certificate III qualification (i.e. individual support, aged care, community services, disability) as a minimum;
  • Minimum of 18 months experience experience working in the Home Care sector, particularly with Home Care Packages and CHSP funded care services;
  • High level of passion and enthusiasm to work within the community service industry
  • Experience in performing domestic duties to a high quality;
  • Genuine empathy with elderly clients and the ability to think creatively and develop solutions to daily challenges;
  • The ability to be flexible, professional and reliable;
  • The commitment to represent Be with pride and help us make lives better; and
  • A current open drivers licence.

They also must have, or be willing to obtain upon employment:

  • Restricted Drivers Authority;
  • A comprehensively insured, reliable car;
  • A current First Aid & CPR certificate;
  • Clear National Criminal history check; and
  • A current influenza vaccination.
