JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

Be has cultivated a culture where people feel included, supported and respected. And we know how to have fun! When you are surrounded by like-minded people with a shared vision that makes for a pretty awesome place to work.

Be is a leading aged care and health and wellbeing specialist that is doing more than what’s expected to really make a difference in the community. Be is dedicated to supporting people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives with a range of services to meet every individual’s needs. We are the carers, the helpers and life-changers of this world, supporting people to live independently at home longer... and that’s a great place to be.

We provide Home Care Packages, as well as CHSP home support, transport, social support and community services to more than 30,000 people across Queensland. We currently have eight regional offices with a geographical spread from Toowoomba to Cairns.

We’ve created a community – a family - where we choose to look beyond how things are, to how much better they can be. And we are inviting you to become part of our community.
About the role

Be is seeking motivated people to fill the important role of Domestic Care Assistant (DCA). Our DCAs have great interactions with our clients and help to brighten their days.

We offer career pathways and we provide support to our employees who are interested in furthering their professional development and gaining a qualification in Individual Support or Community Services. We will accept applications from candidates who have already attained a care qualification; however, they must be mindful that this role is a primarily Domestic Care role. It would also be a good opportunity for recently qualified people to gain experience in the industry.

This is a part-time position, with a minimum of 15 hours per week on offer.

Key responsbilities include:

  • Assist clients with general domestic duties as prescribed in the clients’ care plan;
  • Assist clients with food preparation and cooking of meals;
  • Ensure clients home is hygienic and a safe environment that supports the promotion of independence;
  • Advocate for the client as required;
  • Support the clients' interests and rights to actively participate in the community and make choices suitable to their needs; and
  • Document client incidents, requests or special needs and report health concerns.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for a special individual who:

  • Has experience performing domestic duties to a high quality;
  • Has experience in the Community Services industry;
  • Has a high level of passion and enthusiasm;
  • Has genuine empathy with elderly and vulnerable clients;
  • Has a current drivers licence and reliable vehicle (preferably less than 8 years old);
  • First Aid & CPR certificate;
  • A clear federal criminal history check, or willing to obtain prior to commencement; and
  • A current influenza vaccination

Desirable:

  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support or Home and Community Care (or equivalent) is desirable

Benefits

  • Salary Packaging opportunities (more bang for your buck)
  • Enticing culture and job satisfaction (we all know how important this is)
  • Flexibility, opportunities and support (now that’s appreciated)
  • Both you and our organisation will be making a difference (Isn’t this what it is all about?)

How to Apply

If you think you have what it takes, submit your CV and Cover Letter specifically addressing the key selection criteria above.

Be Creative! Be fun! Be real! Tell us who you REALLY are! Whilst qualifications are important, we care more about who you are as opposed to what you are on paper.

Be supports an equal employment opportunity culture where diversity is valued and celebrated. We welcome applications from individuals from a wide range of culturally and linguistic diverse backgrounds, the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community, as well as people with disabilities.
